How can I stop being ticklish during a massage?

Kon asked:

I can’t seem to relax to receive a massage. I always get ticklish. What can I do to avoid being ticklish and enjoy my massage?

You can’t do anything. If you’re ticklish, then you just are.

I went to massage school. Tell the therapist to use more pressure. I have successfully massaged people’s feet that were extremely ticklish.

Slow and deep massaging works.

Stay ticklish Dude!

Ticklish is Cool and you don’t want to reduce your physical sensitivity or body reaction to contact. Over time your body will get used to a massage, but will stay ticklish for other fun contact.

Ask the therapist to use more pressure. Also, focus on your breathing. Deep breaths along with concentrating on something other than the massage usually works. I tell clients to close their eyes, take deep breathes and imagine their favorite vacation spot.

If you find out how, let me know! I am also extremely ticklish and find it hard to get massages. I can handle a firm back and shoulder massage pretty well, but if they touch me anywhere around my neck, sides, legs and especially feet I start wriggling like a snake…
