How can I massage a knot out of my husbands back shoulder?
Arria_11 asked:
My husband has a cronic knot, or what feels like a tense ball in his back, left shoulder muscle. I have been trying to work it out with massage. It has been getting smaller but I can’t seem to totally work it out. Any suggestions? Also, the ball of tension seems to move around a little as I massage. Thanks!

That ball is a knot of toxins and yes as you rub it out it will get smaller. Use alot of oil or lotion when doing so and use your elbow instead of your hands. My wife does that for me and it makes a ton of difference. The pain is harsh but it helps. If he grimmaces in pain you are doing good.
Try using your elbow on it in a circular motion. I did this for my fiance and it worked great. I guess I could get more pressure doing it that way. Another thing to do with knots is direct, steady, continuous pressure for a few seconds. You have to put quite a lot of pressure on it–almost to the point of being painful (sorry).
You might want to use a muscle rub as well (Ben Gay, Icy Hot, whatever you have). Then apply some heat with a heating pad or hot cloth. You could even put some heat on before you massage to start to loosen up the muscle. If he can do any stretches that stretch that area, that will also help. Good luck.
it sounds strange but get him to lay on the floor and put a tennis ball directly on the knot and just roll back and forth on the ball…:) make sure he drinks lots and lots of water after you massage it..try your elbow but use plenty of lotion..drink water!!!
