What courses do i need in order to become a massage therapist?

klech asked:

I’ve been looking into coming a massage therapist, but i wanted a little more info on it. I am currently in grade 9 and i am just selecting my courses for next year. What courses should i take in high school to be ready for a career in massage therapy? I would also like to know if i would go to college or university? If so, what courses should i take there aswell?

Get a high school diploma then go to college. There are specific classes and schools. Avoid any that advertise on TV. Ask a massage therapist for sure.

This is a vocational program so either a private training center or a community college may offer this.. Upon graduation you then take an apprenticeship program.

Anatomy and physiology will be very helpful if you plan on attending a massage school. Also, a basic psychology class if it’s offered at your high school. Massage schools range from 9 months to 3 years, depending on where you live. Some schools are in a college type setting and others are less formal.

In high school classes that might be required is biology and chemistry;the science dealing with cells, muscle an tissue etc. Different schools for majors varied, try talking with your counselor. The field you want as a massage therapist; upon completion of the courses, you can go to either college or university.
